BNSF Locomotive No. 2026, was recently (May 2026) rolled out by BNSF in a striking red, white, and blue engine in honor of the nation’s upcoming July 4th milestone and is actively traveling the 32,500-mile network alongside the standard freight fleet. It was as one of three commemorative locomotives painted in a special red, white, and blue livery to honor the U.S. Semiquincentennial (America’s 250th birthday). BNSF Railway operates approximately 32,500 route miles of track across 28 U.S. states and three Canadian provinces. The exact track profile includes several additional details: Total Track Miles: When factoring in multiple parallel tracks, passing sidings, and yard tracks, the total extends to over 50,000 miles of track.
